Electronics design review and project rescue

Sometimes the design already exists, and what you need is a fresh look. Either you want to be sure before ordering the first batch, or a project has stalled because something does not work, a key component is gone or the engineer who designed it has left. We review designs and rescue projects.

Design review

An independent review before manufacturing is one of the cheapest ways to avoid a failed first batch. We examine the schematic, the layout and, where relevant, the firmware, and give you a written list of findings sorted by importance.

Typical points we check:

  • Component ratings, power supply design and thermal margins.
  • Footprints compared with the datasheets, and pin assignments.
  • Signal integrity, grounding and EMC aspects of the layout.
  • Testability, programming access and manufacturability.
  • Component availability and lifecycle status.

Project rescue

Projects get stuck for many reasons. Typical situations we help with:

  • Obsolete or unavailable parts: finding replacements and adapting the design.
  • Boards that misbehave: intermittent resets, noise, unexplained failures or failing compliance tests.
  • Missing documentation: recovering schematics, bills of materials and build instructions from existing hardware and files.
  • Unfinished work: taking over a design started by another team and bringing it to completion.

How it works

We begin with a short assessment: we study what exists, understand the goal and tell you honestly what we find and what we recommend. From there you decide whether you want only the review, or support for the corrections as well. If you need a quick opinion, say so, and we can scope a focused review.

What you receive

  • A written review report with prioritised findings and recommendations.
  • Corrected or updated design files if you ask us to implement the changes.
  • Recovered documentation when it was missing.
  • A clear plan for the next steps.

Frequently asked questions

Can we sign an NDA before sharing the design?

Of course. We are happy to sign an NDA before you share any detail.

What if the original design files are lost?

Often a lot can be recovered from the physical board, the manufacturing files or the firmware binary. We tell you what is feasible after an initial look. See also hardware design.
